June 2021 Update

I wanted to share important news regarding the Ventilation Shutdown initiative and how you can help during the critical next few days.

Dec 2021 Update: Please continue sharing our message on your social media feeds.

• The AVMA will be holding a meeting on July 28 or 29, 2021 to discuss our resolution to reclassify all forms of Ventilation Shutdown (VSD/VSD+) as “Not recommended.” 

• Unfortunately, we’re hearing that the AVMA has not shown willingness to reclassify VSD. Perhaps even more disturbing are the reports that they’re becoming more lenient about its use and other even more controversial depopulation methods in the future.

• We need the AVMA House of Delegates to hear your concerns by sharing on social media. 

• It’s important to tag your posts: @AVMAvets #VetsAgainstVSD #EndVSDNow. 

• You can share or repost content from our VAVSD accounts:

• Please ask “@AVMAvets to reclassify all forms of VSD as Not Recommended at your July 2021 meeting” on your social media between July 24-28, 2021.

• We will send you an update once we receive official word on the status of our resolution. 

As a veterinary professional (veterinarian, veterinary technician, or AVMA member), you have the power to influence the AVMA to classify VSD+ as “not recommended.” Share the news and petition with your veterinary colleagues.
